Default Re: Raven Lite not working with Quick Time 7.2

Hi!
Thanks for the program!

I'm using Raven Lite 1.0 on WinXP in Spanish language.
Raven was complaining about not having the Quicktime Java plugin,
despite I do have QT Player 7.6.6
I've found that the path present in RavenLiteLauncher.lax and in
RavenLiteConsole bat for the Spanish WIn XP OS is wrong:
C:\\Archivos de programa\\Files\\QuickTime\\QTSystem\\QTJava.zip
must actually be:
C:\\Archivos de programa\\QuickTime\\QTSystem\\QTJava.zip

Changing this makes the message disappear.

Anyway, the solution proposed by papak about using the
environment variables would be a good general one.

I have the problem that the program suddenly crashes at opening
a mp3 file though. It's kind of unpredictable, the same files can be opened
with no problem sometimes and crash the program some other times.
They are small files, recorded with Remembird and converted to mp3 with
its software.

Default Re: Configuration Hard Coding?

Hi!

Please note that the current settings for the path in both RavenLiteConsole.bat and
RavenLiteLauncher.lax are wrong for the Spanish version of WinXP:
where it says:
C:\\Archivos de programa\\Files\\QuickTime\\QTSystem\\QTJava.zip
should be:
C:\\Archivos de programa\\QuickTime\\QTSystem\\QTJava.zip

changing this the message about not finding QT java no longer
shows up and mp3 files can be opened.

Nevertheless, a more general solution as suggested by Papak would be better.

Also, once I get Raven Lite up and running, it often crashes at opening
mp3 files. I've not been able to find any systematic reason yet, sometimes
opens a given mp3 file and sometimes crashes with the same file.
I'll report back in a separate thread when I get some more experience.

Thanks a lot for Raven Lite and for your support

Agus

Now, the reason for my post -- Although Java isn't in my programming skill set, it seems to me that possibly the installation script might be able to check the Windows environment variables to better determine and configure the path to the required software in the lax file? On my configuration, I have the following environment variables available which might be useful:

HOMEDRIVE=F:
ProgramFiles=F:\Program Files
QTJAVA=F:\Program Files\Java\jre1.6.0_05\lib\ext\QTJava.zip
SystemRoot=F:\WINDOWS
windir=F:\WINDOWS

Just a thought. Thanks for the useful forums.
